Well, I have to say that this week has been a week of trial and error. Porter has not been sleeping well and we are to our limit of sleepless nights. We have tried everything. Baby Wise(book on sleeping patterns) doesn't work, yes Porter can scream at the top of his lungs for 30+ minutes without falling asleep nor does keeping him up for a long time before we put him to bed, even if his eyes droop as we try everything to keep him awake. Just today we had him take his first bites of rice cereal. I am not sure he knew what to do. He didn't make a sour face, but I don't think he got anything down. He would just keep sticking out his tongue and drool the rest of it out. I just kept scooping it back up and feeding it to him, but I don't think it helped. I guess we'll just have to keep trying our best and being patient. Hopefully, he will grow out of it and sleep through the whole night. Wish me luck :0)
Other things that have happened this week were going to Stake Conference. I hate to admit that this year was the first time that I had gone to the adult session. I decided that I had been missing out. It was great to be there with just adults, so quiet, good topics, and of course the spirit was very edifying and inspiring. As the saying goes you don't realize how blessed you are until you don't have it and miss it very much. That goes for a stake building just around the corner. I have always grown up with the stake building less than 5 minutes away in every place that I have lived. Not here though, the stake building is in Bloomington about a 30 minute drive from my house. I guess I have to say that I am even blessed in that because some of the people in the stake have to drive about 2 hours to get there. It was worth it though. The stake presidency was wonderful to get to know. One is convert from california and also a spanish speaker. He came up to me and talked to me in spanish. It was so special to me. Hearing someone's sincere thoughts in spanish always make the feelings of love from my mission come back.

If you find something to help Porter sleep through the night, Please let me know... Emme still is getting up 2 or 3 times a night.
Oh Bethany I remember those nights! My kids were pretty good, though, so I'm sure I didn't go through nearly what you are. Good luck. I wish I had some advice for you. :-(
My advice is for you and Terri to get some good sets of ear plugs. :-) You can tell I'm not a mom to even suggest such a thing, right?
I have advice! (sound of cavalry horn) When we were having a hard time with Mack I went crazy myself, then I found the sleep book to end all sleep books (in my opinion). It's called "Sleeping through the night" by Jodi A. Mindell, Ph.D., it saved my life. Mack is a great sleeper now and I followed this book to the letter. It had great advice. Mack is just barely starting to make the transition from two naps to one nap a day now. Good sleep really makes a baby happy. Moms ask me all the time why Mack is so easy going and how I get him to sleep so good. It's a lot of WORK, but it's worth it! I don't think babies are born knowing how to sleep or how much sleep they need etc. They hardly know how to eat, how could they possibly know how to sleep?! I'm going to get down off my soap box now. Sorry I went on and on, but this book really is great and I do believe in it. The real test will come when I put it use on my next kid. Here's wishing both of us lots of luck!
Here is the link to the book on Amazon.com. It's long but if you copy and paste it, it should work fine: http://www.amazon.com/Sleeping-Through-Night-Revised-Toddlers/dp/0060742569/ref=sr_1_1/002-9592581-1363241?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190227429&sr=1-1
Shoot! the link didn't work right... Well, I think amazon has the best price and they have free 2 day shipping on the book right now. You should be able to find it from the author and the title.
